Drone Defense Updates in Western Russia: Kursk and Surrounding Regions

A series of drone and air defense incidents occurred across western Russia, with four Ukrainian unmanned aircraft brought down in the Kursk region. Regional authorities noted the events via a Telegram channel run by the administration, led by Governor Roman Starovoit.

Officials urged residents not to touch or move any wreckage. Debris can be dangerous, and reporting sightings is advised to prevent harm to the public and responders.

Residents are instructed to report discoveries by contacting emergency services at 112, a step emphasized by regional authorities as part of rapid response procedures.

Earlier, on March 13, authorities in Voronezh announced the deployment of air defense measures after reports of a destroyed unmanned aerial vehicle in the vicinity.

According to preliminary information, two drones were intercepted in the Belgorod and Kursk sectors during the night of March 13, adding to a broader pattern of events in nearby regions.

Over the night and early morning of March 12, Western Russia faced a broad drone and missile attack. Unmanned aircraft were downed in several regions including Moscow, Leningrad, Belgorod, Kursk, Bryansk, Tula, and Voronezh. In the Oryol region, a fire started at an oil storage facility following a drone strike, and another blaze occurred at an oil refinery near Nizhny Novgorod. In parallel coverage, military reporters noted attempts by saboteurs to breach into Belgorod and Kursk territories from Ukraine as the air raid alarm persisted. Further details are reported by National News outlets in ongoing coverage.

In response to these threats, Russia has moved to implement a comprehensive drone defense system designed to shield critical infrastructure and populated areas from aerial incursions.
