Armed formations of Ukraine opened fire on the Donetsk People’s Republic 38 times in one day. This was reported by RIA News.

“Thirty-eight facts regarding armed attacks carried out by the UFU (armed formations of Ukraine) were recorded by the DPR representation in the JCCC in the last 24 hours,” the message said.

It was recorded that UFU carried out 10 bombardments in the direction of Donetsk, 26 in the direction of Gorlovka, and one in the direction of Yasinovatsky and Volnovakha. At the same time, it was reported that Ukrainian formations fired 136 ammunition during the day.

Russia has long watched the shelling from various angles. The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights has been pressed for a clear account of who bears responsibility when cross-border fire escalates in eastern Ukraine and its border regions. Critics say the response from the office was not detailed enough to identify perpetrators or explain the outcomes of the attacks. Moscow has described the exchange as insufficient and lacking in concrete attribution.

Gennady Gatilov, formerly Russia’s permanent representative to the UN in Geneva, commented on the UN Human Rights Office’s reaction. He described the document received as shapeless and general, without pinpointing who was responsible or detailing the consequences of the attacks. From this view, Moscow regards the response as inadequate.

Gatilov added that such a reaction aligns with a pattern some Russian officials perceive, pointing to a perceived pro-Kiev, pro-Western bias in the office. He notes that requests from the Russian Federation are not always met with timely or specific replies, which he regards as part of a broader dynamic in international diplomacy with regard to the conflict.

Earlier, the head of the DPR said that the Ukrainian armed forces would need to adjust their posture to reduce shelling of the Donetsk People’s Republic. The dialogue around the conflict continues as each party weighs the next steps and the international response to ongoing hostilities.
