Reports indicate that the Ka-52 attack helicopters of Russia’s Aerospace Forces targeted fortified positions in the Donetsk direction, aiming at fortresses and armored vehicles held by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. This assessment comes from communications issued by the Russian Ministry of Defense and carried by RIA Novosti. The ministry’s press service noted that during combat missions, army aviation pilots released missiles at designated fortified sites belonging to Ukrainian units. As described by the ministry, the result of these operations included the destruction of a control center and armored vehicles used by Ukrainian forces.
Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry reported losses among Ka-52 Alligator attack helicopters assigned to the Central Military District in the Krasnolimansk direction. The ministry cited the destruction of a long-standing fortified position of the Armed Forces of Ukraine as part of ongoing combat operations.
Forbes previously suggested that missiles of the Izdeliye 305 family, deployed from Ka-52M helicopters, could pose a significant threat to Ukrainian military assets.
There had been commentary from the United States naming one of the major threats facing Ukrainian forces in the context of ongoing aerial and ground operations.
