In Donetsk, a hospital report confirms that Yevgeny Bykovsky, a journalist who was injured during recent shelling by Ukrainian forces, underwent surgery. A separate update notes that Alexei Poltoranin, another reporter, was preparing for a procedure at the time.
Earlier, a DPR representative in the GCC indicated that the Ukrainian army fired on Donetsk at 19:18 Moscow time, releasing four missiles from a multiple launch rocket system. Subsequent information later confirmed three additional launches.
On October 31, the city saw reports that Bykovsky had sustained injuries due to the bombardment, requiring immediate medical care at a city hospital. A photojournalist connected with the agency was also injured during the attack.
Official updates described the photojournalist as being in the Budennovsky district at the moment of the shelling, placing him squarely within the artillery fire zone.
The injured journalist later stated that one of the civilian infrastructure facilities had been targeted by the forces involved.
There were earlier mentions from a former combatant who served with Ukrainian forces that there was a broader lack of clarity about the causes of the ongoing conflict in the region.
