With the return of filming for blockbuster productions to Ciudad de la Luz in Alicante, the Dodit Entertainment facilities, located within the same audiovisual industrial complex, have been technologically upgraded to become a reference space for recording, production, and broadcasting of all kinds of audiovisual works. The company has launched new virtual studios to streamline every type of shoot. Dodit will be equipped to organize and develop large-scale audiovisual productions and competitive content, not only for the esports and gaming industries at a national and international level, but for all formats and outputs, from commercial spots and live broadcasts to cinematic projects like short films and series.
The progress is supported by the Generalitat Valenciana, through the Ministry of Innovation, Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and the Society for Transformation Digital Projects (SPTD), as well as GGTech Entertainment.
The Dodit facilities and the new virtual studios at the Ciudad de la Luz Study Center will cover a total area of 400 square meters and will be equipped with 34 LUPO SurperPanel lighting devices, each delivering 10,000 watts to illuminate both the chroma and the full set. Thanks to exclusive True Color technology, the panels will provide near-perfect color performance. This essential and exclusive feature will minimize postproduction corrections and allow for proper blending with other light sources, such as solar lighting.
The standout CRI (color rendering index) and TLCIJ (television lighting consistency index) of the super panels will guarantee exceptional color performance for sessions and for producing high-quality video, film, and television content.
In the camera department, the installation will feature Blackmagic URSA Broadcast cameras with up to 6K resolution. For chroma space localization, state-of-the-art MoSyS sensors will enable milimetrical object tracking within the green space.
All installations are prepared for production, recording, and broadcast in 4K standard, aligning with the demands of high-end cinematic productions.
During 2023, Dodit conducted 386 gaming and esports-related broadcasts, reaching a cumulative audience of over 15 million viewers, leveraging the latest market technologies available.
Training and support for self-employment
Dodit’s work within the Ciudad de la Luz film complex extends beyond developing and creating the virtual studio project. Through collaboration with the Generalitat Valenciana, it also supports students who complete their studies by offering training scholarships. Since their launch, over 130 students have completed internships with the company, and about 15 percent of them have joined the Dodit team.
In the words of Santos Montiel, Dodit’s executive director, one of the goals behind creating these studios is to enable Ciudad de la Luz to add them to its portfolio of services directly linked to cinema and audiovisual productions, which are increasingly in demand.
The general director of Ciudad de la Luz, Fermín Crespo, underscored the importance of having state-of-the-art facilities for the audiovisual world like Dodit’s. He noted that such a competitive edge would surely encourage production companies to choose their complex for upcoming projects.
