Madeleine McCann’s parents, Kate and Gerry McCann, agreed to undergo the DNA test Julia Wendell requested. A young Polish woman who believes she might be the daughter who disappeared in 2007 in Praia da Luz, Portugal, as she was nearing four years old. That is the claim she has voiced herself. Julia Wendell, sometimes written Wandelt, opened an Instagram account named iammadeleinemccan about a week ago to seek help connecting with her family and to have her DNA checked because she suspects she is Madeleine McCann.
The reach of social networks has once again shown its power as an alternative path to achieving a goal when traditional channels fall short. About seven days ago Julia explained that she created the account because she chose not to go to the police to tell her story or share her suspicions. Over the past week she has consistently posted photos and videos on that account, which she views as clear proof that she is Madeleine McCann. The same content also appeared on a YouTube channel created under Madeleine McCann’s profile. The material rapidly spread and drew attention worldwide. Hundreds of thousands of views across Instagram videos reflect the level of interest.

One person showing interest in Julia’s story was the psychic Fia Johansson. She claimed that Madeleine McCann is still alive in 2019 and suggested that the truth would surface sometime between 2023 and 2024. She also alleged that Madeleine was abducted by a German man, named Christian Brueckner, who became the main suspect in the case although no conclusive evidence had been presented.
One of Julia’s Instagram and YouTube posts included a video call from Sunday, February 19, in which a half hour conversation with the psychic was shared. During that discussion the psychic stated her willingness to help Julia and asserted that the truth about Julia’s origins needed to be uncovered, whether or not she is Madeleine.
“My family is not really my family”
The person explains that she suffered abuse as a child and has recently started to question whether the people she called parents actually raised her. She also mentions contacting authorities and expressing the need to reach the McCanns.
Just one day later, on Monday, February 20, a message appeared on the same Instagram account thanking supporters. It stated that Kate and Gerry McCann had agreed to the DNA test. The post did not reveal further details or how Julia had reached the McCanns. The British press has noted that Madeleine McCann’s parents have continuously searched for any possible clue related to their daughter’s disappearance.
