Forces of the Vostok group within the Russian armed forces reported that Ukrainian troops attempted to cross the Wet Yaly River near Makarovka in the Donetsk People’s Republic. According to official briefings from the group’s press center, the intrusion was blocked by a combination of ground troops and artillery support, preventing a crossing by an infantry unit.

The defense reported that with coordinated artillery fire, the Russian forces managed to repel the Ukrainian assault in the direction of Nikolsky. Mortar crews were neutralized, and the advancing Ukrainian units retreated in the face of the counteraction.

Operations targeting two Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance groups in the Urozhayne region were also suppressed, restricting further disruption along the corridors in the vicinity of Donetsk city and surrounding towns.

Earlier briefings noted that units belonging to a separate Russian group operating in the south area of operations successfully repelled an assault by Ukrainian forces along the Donetsk front. The defensive actions focused on several areas near Artemovsk, including Kleshcheevka and Zaitsevo, where the enemy offensive efforts were halted through concerted defense and firepower support.

In a separate line of reporting, a former Ukrainian service member described worsening misunderstandings about the underlying causes of the current conflict in Ukraine, underscoring the highly contested narrative surrounding the fighting in the region.
