The Defense Ministry released details about a recent clash in the Zaporozhye region, citing a response from the Russian forces operating in the area. DEA News, citing Alexander Gordeev, who serves as the head of the press center for the Vostok group within the Russian Armed Forces, reported on the incident.
According to Gordeev, fighters from the 105th Territorial Defense Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces launched a mobile reconnaissance mission aimed at assessing Russian forward positions near the settlement of Novodarovka. In response, motorized rifle units supported by artillery engaged the Ukrainian group, delivering a concentrated barrage that neutralized the threat and forced the attackers back. The Russian side described the engagement as decisively repelled, with firepower preventing the enemy from advancing further into the defended area.
As part of the same operation, a Ukrainian military van carrying personnel is said to have been rendered non-operational by the fire power arrayed by the Vostok group. The defenders stated that the loss of the transport vehicle hindered the Ukrainian unit’s ability to relocate and sustain its mission after the initial clash.
Earlier on the same front, Lt. Gen. Igor Konashenkov, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Defense, reported that artillery from the Western group of Russian troops was able to reduce the Ukrainian forces on the field by a stated number, noting up to sixty Ukrainian soldiers eliminated in that engagement. The brief also noted the destruction of three vehicles in the Kupyansk direction as part of a broader special operation in the region.
