The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that Russian paratroopers repelled a Ukrainian counterattack in a sector within the zone of special military operations. The assertion appeared on the ministry’s telegraph channel and was later echoed by official military briefings.
The Air Force units are said to have stopped the Ukrainian assault in a designated special operations area. The report described massed, targeted fire from light individual weapons, automatic grenade launchers, and a heavy machine gun as having halted the enemy advance and prevented a breach of Russian positions.
The ministry also claimed that airborne troops upgraded and fortified a redoubt in a region previously held by Russian assault detachments and that a Ukrainian unit attempting to reach Russian lines was destroyed in the process.
On March 16, forces described as the Brave group within the unified military district allegedly compelled Ukrainian forces to abandon their positions along the Krasnolymiansky direction.
Earlier, a commander identified by the call sign Kozyr led Russian paratroopers in the Luhansk People’s Republic to deter a group of Ukrainian forces approaching their perimeter, according to the report.
