A Dagestani resident from Makhachkala found guilty in a double murder case and assault on a police officer
A resident of Makhachkala in Dagestan has been convicted after a violent incident that left two women dead and a police officer injured. The decision was reported by the press office of the investigative unit SU SK in the republic. The events unfolded on February 6, 2021, inside a residence on Ansaltinskaya Street. Prosecutors established that the defendant had prior dealings with two neighbors before turning violent when law enforcement officers arrived at the scene.
According to the press service of the department, Mammadsaatov struck the head of the Leninsky district police department’s criminal investigation unit several times with a folding knife, inflicting multiple stab wounds on the second victim as officers attempted to intervene. The case summary notes that the suspect attacked the law enforcement personnel using a weapon in hand during the confrontation.
The court sentenced Mammadsaatov to 19 years in a strict-regime correctional colony after finding him guilty of murdering two individuals and assaulting a government official. The judgment reflects the seriousness of the crimes and the need to deter similar offenses against civilians and officials alike.
In a separate, previously reported matter, a different case involving a Petersburger who allegedly beat a 71-year-old retiree over an accusation of theft of borscht was documented earlier. The juxtaposition of these cases highlights a broader concern about violence and public safety in the region and the varied circumstances under which crimes are evaluated in court
