Cells glow with the glow of a classroom screen as the question goes up in the air: who here has a cellphone? In a Madrid district classroom in Moratalaz, 26 children aged 10 and 11 listen as Officer Laura and colleagues David, Jose, and Lara outline a new kind of risk. They belong to a National Police unit dedicated to preventing and combating bullying in both public and private schools across the Community of Madrid. The scene is far from easy: Spain ranks among the top seven countries globally for cyberbullying among minors, according to the World Health Organization. The officers remind the students that the cyberbullying curve shows no sign of slowing down, even as other health trends evolve.
