Customs Intercept 6000 Puzzle Items Smuggled from China into Russia via Kazakhstan
A mobile unit of Chelyabinsk customs intercepted an attempt to illegally import six thousand Chinese puzzles into Russia. This action was confirmed by the press service of the Ural Customs Administration.
In another shipment, authorities found 900 kilograms of so-called intellectual puzzles traveling from Kazakhstan to Bashkortostan. The declared value of the seized goods exceeded 600 thousand rubles, reflecting a significant illicit operation in the region.
Authorities noted that neither the carrier nor the buyer provided documents proving the safety or compliance of the goods with applicable standards. This gap in documentation raised concerns about potential risks to consumers and border security.
According to the Chelyabinsk Customs press service, the carrier failed to present shipping papers that would confirm a proper customs declaration on the territory of the Eurasian Economic Union. The refusal to provide these crucial documents highlighted gaps in regulatory compliance and the need for strict verification at border checkpoints, as explained by Stanislav Vasev, the deputy chief of Chelyabinsk Customs, in a discussion with the Telegram channel Emergency News Agency.
Earlier, customs officers in Ivangorod uncovered another irregular case involving a woman who possessed 200 embryo models, underscoring ongoing challenges in detecting illicit items that attempt to cross borders under the guise of legitimate goods. The combined incidents illustrate the ongoing vigilance of border control authorities across the region and their commitment to stopping illicit imports before they reach consumers or disrupt markets.
