Mediaset is reshaping the programming slate on its flagship networks. Cuatro has announced a fresh slate for this Monday, including special programs En busca del Nirvana, Focus, and Everything is a lie, along with On Everyone’s Lips. The channel will also feature a new program titled Vote for Juan after a brief pause in the schedule, though an exact release date has not been disclosed.
Vote for Juan, a political comedy created by Diego San José, best known for Ocho apellidos vascos, and Juan Cabestany, famed for The Wonderful World of Borjamari and Pocholo, is a production by TNT and 100 Balas (Mediapro). The show blends sharp humor with outlandish situations, competitive drive, and the high stakes of political life to deliver a biting, entertaining look at power and ambition.
Javier Room delivers a standout performance in this series, earning recognition from the Ondas, Feroz, MiM, and Unión de Actores awards. He leads a cast that includes Maria Pujalte from Journalists, Nuria Mencia from Feelings, Adam Jezierski of Gym Tony, esty quesada from Call, and Yael Belicha from Entrevías. The project was guided by directors Victor Garcia Leon, known for Right to Dream, and David Serrano, acclaimed for Other Side of the Bed, bringing together a diverse ensemble to shape the mood and rhythm of the narrative.
The ambition to reach the Head of Government
The story follows Juan Carrasco, a minister of agriculture and a national deputy from La Rioja who also served as the former mayor of Logroño. After a chain of political coincidences that ignite his ambition, he decides to join the party primaries to secure a candidacy for the presidency. The journey is filled with political intrigue, rivalries, and internal strife that chart his ascent and test his resolve.
Juan encounters a wide range of obstacles along the political path. His campaign team, an eclectic mix including the press officer Macarena, the chief of staff Carmen, and his personal secretary Victor, bring energy, wit, and improvisation to the process. Like their leader, this team is young in experience but rich in ambition, ready to navigate the twists of modern politics with humor and grit.
Alongside this central cast, the narrative threads in the personal sphere to reveal the pressures of public life. Juan’s patient wife Paula stands as a stabilizing influence, while his teenage daughter Eva adds perspective and tension, highlighting how political life reverberates through a family. The show uses these relationships to explore commitment, consequences, and the human cost of public service, all while keeping a lively tempo that balances satire with injects of real-world political dynamics.
