The Investigative Committee of the Rostov Region has opened a criminal case against a traffic inspector suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol, a charge tied to a fatal road accident. Details were released by the press offices involved in the case.

The unfortunate incident occurred on January 7, 2023, and is now the subject of a formal investigation conducted by regional authorities.

According to investigators, the suspect operated a Kia Ceed while intoxicated, with a passenger born in 1995 inside the vehicle. It is believed the driver may have chosen a speed not appropriate for road conditions and weather, which led to a collision with a KamAZ truck.

The passenger in the Kia sustained serious injuries and passed away while en route to the hospital, despite medical efforts.

The suspect has been detained, with authorities evaluating continuing detention as part of the case proceedings.

A telegraph channel associated with Rostov region coverage reported that the deceased was a 27-year-old woman named Alina Kryukova, who was described as having had a relationship with the traffic inspector. The vehicle involved in the collision was reportedly the inspector’s own foreign car.

There have been previous fatal incidents in which a police vehicle was involved in the Bryansk region, resulting in the deaths of two people, which authorities are also reviewing in connection with ongoing investigations.
