A traffic incident in the Sverdlovsk region involved a Range Rover driver who, while intoxicated, exceeded the speed limit and crashed into a VAZ that was stationary at a red light. The collision left the VAZ owner seriously injured, and the Range Rover driver attempted to evade accountability by leaving the area and heading toward a military zone. In Nizhny Tagil, officials initially denied that the driver had a connection to the Northern Military District, yet the individual managed to reach a dislocated area near a special operations zone from another city.
Several months later, the person who caused the crash was wounded while volunteering and was hospitalized. Fearing a possible return to active duties, the driver fled again, prompting authorities to declare him a fugitive and to launch a manhunt.
It later emerged that a resident of the Ural region had not stepped outside his home for three weeks and then returned home visibly intoxicated. During that period, his wife spoke to friends, repeating assurances that her husband was stationed in the Northern Military District. His actual whereabouts were eventually determined, and he was taken into custody and placed under house arrest.
In a separate incident, a former fighter linked to the Wagner private military company was accused of rape and the arson of another person’s vehicle, with conspiratorial efforts to conceal his tracks.
