Crimea school incident prompts inquiry after student concussion

In Crimea, a student was hospitalized after attending lessons at a local school. A Telegram channel reporting under the moniker “Typical Canköy” shared the initial account of the event.

The incident took place inside a neighborhood educational institution. According to the child’s parents, the classroom teacher struck the student during a mathematics lesson. Following the injury, the pupil was transported to a medical facility where a concussion was diagnosed. The school principal was present in the classroom at the time, and the parents promptly contacted the police to report the assault.

Several sources have indicated that this incident may not be an isolated occurrence of rough treatment toward students in that setting.

Representatives from the Crimean Ministry of Education, Science and Youth issued statements about the matter. They confirmed that an internal inquiry into the incident has been initiated by the ministry and the school involved. According to the periodical report, officials connected to the event have been suspended from their duties while the internal investigation proceeds.

Meanwhile, the school administration is conducting a comprehensive survey among students to determine the broader climate in classrooms. According to the ministry, there is no evidence of coercive pressure on pupils at this time, and the situation remains under administrative oversight as the inquiry progresses.

There was also a report about a prior case involving a Chinese student who reportedly voiced concerns about an excessive number of classes. Police were notified in relation to that complaint as well, indicating a pattern of reported grievances connected to school schedules and classroom experiences in the area.
