A man admitted to sexually assaulting a woman on an industrial estate, leading to a case that drew regional attention. In an agreement that involved the prosecutor and the defense, a four-year prison term was set for the sexual assault charge, accompanied by a 370 euro fine and an additional threat note because the man tried to stop the victim from speaking. He faced a higher charge previously, with an eight-year sentence that the court had to address. The defendant was brought before the Cantabrian Courthouse on a Thursday to be formally processed, and law enforcement records indicate that he was apprehended after providing his initial testimony and failing to attend a prior hearing in early March while a search and arrest warrant was underway against him for non-attendance.

Beyond the prison term, the victim was awarded 12,200 euros to cover moral damages and the consequences of the attack. The prosecutor’s letter details injuries ranging from physical harm to ongoing anxiety, described as a post-traumatic stress disorder that has persisted as moderately severe and chronic. The narrative notes that, in July 2021, the man forced the victim toward danger, pressed her against a bus and a wall, and forcibly coerced her before she managed to escape. These events are documented as the root of the victim’s enduring distress and the subsequent impact on her daily life and sense of safety.

The survivor subsequently received multiple threatening calls from the accused, including menacing declarations that she must remain silent and instructions to take a morning pill. Following the agreement between the prosecutor and the defense, the sexual assault sentence was reduced from eight years to four. The defendant did not contest the terms of the agreement and, in a restrained admission, conveyed a cautious assent and a lukewarm remark about the remedy of the situation.

Under the terms of the settlement, the lesser charge of minor injuries is found to be subsumed within the broader sexual assault finding, according to the prosecutor. The arrangement also imposes a period of controlled freedom after six years of potential release, alongside a fifteen-year ban on contacting or approaching women, and an additional fifteen-year prohibition on dealing with minors. The agreement outlines how these restraints are designed to safeguard the victim and prevent further contact with vulnerable individuals, reflecting court expectations about compliance and protection.
