Last night, a deadly incident unfolded in a Córdoba neighborhood, taking the life of a resident who was stabbed multiple times by a 44-year-old man inside a bar. Notably, the man accused of the stabbing was reportedly connected to a prior incident at a local venue last July, which has drawn additional attention to the case. He is currently in custody with national police authorities.
According to El Confidencial, the tragedy occurred in the Santuario district, specifically near Plaza del Escultor García Rueda. Both men were regulars at the bar and had a confrontation that quickly escalated from tense words to a full-blown altercation.
Witnesses told Cordópolis that the suspect may have entered the kitchen to grab one of the knives while the owner stepped away to discard trash. Following this, the assailant launched a series of stabbing blows that totaled up to 27 strikes against the victim.
Several patrons attempted to intervene with stools and other objects as the fight continued. The bar owner reportedly cried out for help and kept the attacker at bay long enough for authorities to arrive, remaining in a back room until the police reached the scene. The victim was transported to Reina Sofía University Hospital, where he died from his injuries shortly after arrival.
