Work
Consum has announced a 9% raise for the entire workforce. The cooperative-approved measure increases the purchasing power of employees and will be applied with the February payroll, covering all staff without exception. In total, more than 19,000 people will benefit. The raise represents a substantial investment, totaling 32.9 million euros, and translates to a minimum increase of more than 1,430 euros gross per employee each year.
The agreed adjustment also applies to other salary-related components, including overtime, nights with non-working hours, and holiday periods that are paid at twice the regular rate.
Beyond base pay, cooperative members receive annual returns that reflect the cooperative’s results, along with interest on their mandatory social capital contributions. In the most recent financial year, these two items aggregated 38.3 million euros. Depending on tenure as an operating partner, they may receive one or two additional payments.
Work
Consum created nearly 1,000 jobs last year, pushing its total staff beyond 19,000. Over the last eight years, the company has generated roughly 7,800 stable and high-quality positions across the autonomous communities where it operates.
Since the end of 2021, the network has implemented a five-day work week for store staff, granting two days off each week. This reform has already benefited more than 3,000 workers in the network, and the cooperative plans to extend the reconciliation measure to the entire commercial network by early 2024.
