Digital District will host the upcoming conference on April 26 and 27 titled What abilities and skills digital SMEs need today. The event is organized as a project of SME University and is sponsored by the State Employment Education Foundation and the Public State Employment Service. The gathering will be supported by Valencian regional authorities and aims to empower small and medium enterprises through practical guidance and collaborative learning.
The sessions are designed to connect experts, SME professionals, self-employed individuals, and entrepreneurs. They will present new opportunities, highlight available training resources, showcase effective solutions, and share examples of good practice in enterprise digitization and entrepreneurship. The organizers emphasize that the event will illuminate paths for digital transformation and practical steps for companies to adopt new technologies and processes.
Universidad Pyme serves as a catalyst for digital transformation and improved employability within SMEs. It is an initiative that disseminates fresh educational resources, fosters collaboration with educational and corporate institutions, and presents real-world transformation solutions in education and digitalization. The program aligns with broader national goals of recovery, transformation, and resilience.
Throughout the conference, experts in Digital Policy and Digital Talent, along with professionals in digital employment and new business models, will present approaches grounded in social consensus. They will outline the professional profiles the digital economy will demand and explain where digital transformation currently stands in SMEs.
Representatives from participating organizations will share information about the event and its objectives. The conference highlights the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing as a driver of progress for both workers and entrepreneurs.
Promoting the digital transformation of SMEs is described by Antonio de Luis Acevedo, managing director of Fundae, as a pivotal moment for the labor market. He notes that digitalization can address long-term societal challenges such as sustainability, mobility, and food security, underscoring the strategic value of the conference for the workforce and business leaders alike.
More than half a million beneficiaries
The State Employment Education Foundation, commonly known as Fundae, is a public sector body that manages education funds to strengthen the productive economy. It represents the General State Administration, autonomous communities, and the most representative business and union organizations. Over the past year, the foundation supported educational programs for employment across the Valencian community, reaching more than 545,000 beneficiaries and involving over 32,000 companies. More than 20,000 companies with fewer than ten employees benefited from these programs, and training hours registered reached 7,722,826 on autonomy initiatives. These figures illustrate the ongoing commitment to workforce development and the broad impact of the foundation’s initiatives on local employment and digital upskilling, as reported by the foundation and regional partners in the sector. Explicit evidence of sustained effort and engagement highlights the role of public training resources in supporting SMEs during the digital transition, a trend aligned with national and regional resilience plans and employment strategies. However, the exact distribution of beneficiaries and company sizes reflects the varied needs of the Valencian market and the priority given to small and micro enterprises in the digital era.
