The latest developments involving blogger Hilmi Forksa have been clarified by his lawyer, Konstantin Erokhin, who rejected claims that Forksa was detained in Moscow the day before. He told socialbites.ca that the reported arrest dates back to the summer, and that readers may have misinterpreted the documents in circulation.
“This information has not been verified. It appears someone read the documents and press releases incorrectly. He was detained in the summer and has been under travel restriction since then. There is no record of anyone detaining him or restricting his freedom now. The criminal investigation is already complete. There were partial confessions, and the case is headed to trial soon. There is no new development to report in this story”, the lawyer stated.
Erokhin noted that even the investigator involved in Forksa’s case was surprised by the rumors of a fresh arrest.
“Hilmi is at home. The investigator was surprised as well and suggested the information might have been misread somewhere. The issue will be clarified by the authorities, and any questions will be addressed as needed”, Erokhin added.
Earlier, the Mash Telegram channel claimed on November 30 that Forksa was detained in the apartment he rents in Moscow’s Danilovsky district. The report alleged that law enforcement officers approached him recently and escorted him to a police station, with charges tied to distributing pornography.
Subsequent information indicated that Forksa was released on his own recognizance.
Background notes indicate that Hilmi Forksa was detained in July 2023, as reported by Ekaterina Mizulina, head of the Safe Internet League. A criminal case was opened on charges of publicly displaying and distributing pornographic materials, allegations that have shaped ongoing coverage and public discussion.
Hilmi Çatal, a former blogger, is mentioned as having a separate incident that concluded without lasting sanction after a confrontation.
Across these reports, observers note how quickly rumors can spread in crowded online ecosystems and how official statements sometimes struggle to keep pace with public interest. In this context, legal updates and official clarifications are essential for a clear, accurate picture of what has transpired and what may come next in court proceedings.
