Civil Guard does not rule out new arrests in the case of a group assault on a child under 15 in DoloreQ. In addition to the five minors aged between 15 and 17 who were initially taken to centers in Alicante, Valencia, and Castellón last Wednesday afternoon, investigators from the Alicante Command Junior Women’s Team continue to keep the inquiry open. They are assessing the possibility that more individuals could be involved beyond the five already detained.

Evidence collected by investigators suggests that as many as ten teenagers may be implicated. A crucial clue in understanding the scope of involvement could be a video; it is believed that one of the participants recorded the assault. Civil Guard officers are awaiting the analysis of content from several seized mobile devices. A formal study of the minors in custody is being carried out by court-approved experts, and among the devices, officials hope to locate footage of a group assault that reportedly took place in an open area near the Dolores sports center.

retraining

Five individuals have admitted to offenses while in socio-educational centers, a development confirmed to the media by the second vice-president earlier this week. Those from three provinces in the Community will participate in a sexual education program designed to prevent a recurrence of such violence. Susana Camarero, the Minister of Social Services, Equality and Housing, explained that the decision includes transferring the youths to different centers. The aim is to prevent them from becoming reinforced by one another and to allow more effective engagement with the retraining process.

She emphasized that the concern centers on the educational aspect rather than the duration of time spent in these facilities, noting that the length of their stay should be determined by judicial authorities. The priority is to provide meaningful training and awareness during their time in care; otherwise, remaining in a socio-educational setting may have limited impact. The councilor added that the program of training and awareness is intended to be a distinct, proactive element of the intervention.

For this reason, the General Directorate of Children is developing protocols to ensure a uniform approach. Five centers housing minors will implement a consolidated action plan so that the youths receive the necessary sexual education to prevent violence from reoccurring.

In his remarks, Carlos Sánchez Heras, deputy Government delegate for Alicante, praised the Civil Guard for their careful work. He noted that authorities conducted the investigation with discretion and ensured the victim received comprehensive attention, including psychological support, health care, and ongoing monitoring.

Dolores City Council condemned all forms of violence and supported the ongoing investigation. As part of the 25N activities, the council organized a midday gathering this Friday, including a moment of silence and a reading of a manifesto. The event was attended by Equality Council Member Carmen Gil and Mayor Joaquín Hernández, underscoring the community’s commitment to addressing violence and supporting victims.
