The Civil Guard authorities are examining a road incident involving a truck driver from Seville after a collision with a concrete mixer vehicle. The driver faced a legal threshold breach when his blood alcohol tests came back at levels eight times higher than the limit allowed for professional drivers. Subsequent toxicology screenings detected cocaine and amphetamines, confirming the involvement of controlled substances at the time of the incident.
Authorities initiated the investigation immediately after the crash. The incident occurred on the A-8008 motorway, part of the Seville to A-8005 corridor. A concrete mixer vehicle reportedly veered off the roadway and overturned, prompting an on-site response from the Civil Guard and emergency services.
Following the legally mandated procedures, the driver underwent alcohol testing. The initial reading of 1.17 mg/L in the exhaled breath was documented, and the confirmatory second test showed 1.27 mg/L, both exceeding the permitted limit for those operating commercially licensed vehicles. These readings indicate a dangerous impairment at the moment of driving and are being treated as a serious safety violation.
Additional drug analyses returned positive results for cocaine and amphetamines, with the findings verified by the reference laboratory. The drug results were corroborated by a similar test conducted days prior, reinforcing the concern about impairment that contributed to the accident.
Despite the severity of the crash, the driver sustained no injuries. The incident led to the temporary closure of the road to facilitate rescue and recovery operations for the concrete mixer truck. Traffic was redirected to the SE-3102 route to maintain safety and minimize congestion while authorities managed the scene and conducted investigations.
