Civil Guard Investigates Fatal Hit-and-Run In Orihuela Area

A deadly hit-and-run incident reported this morning involved a 55-year-old Ukrainian man whose body was found in a roadside ditch along the N-340, near the municipal area of Orihuela, in the Redován neighborhood.

Emergency services received a call to 112 shortly after eight o’clock, alerting authorities to a person lying on the roadway in Redován.

Initial police response came from a Civil Guard patrol stationed in Callosa de Segura, which secured the scene and then coordinated with Traffic authorities. According to Civil Guard updates, the deceased was located at the 690th kilometer marker on the N-340 within Orihuela’s limits.

The victim’s body showed injuries and fractures consistent with a severe impact. Traffic investigators noted that the injuries align with a hit-and-run scenario, but the official cause of death will require autopsy findings to confirm.

The deceased is identified as a 55-year-old Ukrainian resident of Redován. The Civil Guard has opened a formal investigation to identify and locate the driver involved in the incident, and to determine the circumstances that led to the collision.
