The Civil Guard in Guardamar del Segura arrested a 19-year-old local resident in connection with suspected drug dealing. The individual was found in possession of controlled substances hidden inside candy wrappers, prepared in doses for retail sale. The suspect was detained for precautionary reasons after the incident and remained in custody following a court hearing in Torrevieja.

The arrest occurred on November 16 and aligns with the Civil Guard’s ongoing community safety operations in the province. These actions complement the broader Master Plan aimed at enhancing coexistence and security around educational centers.

Surveillance

A Guardamar del Segura Civil Guard patrol, assigned to monitor a training center in the town, observed a young man alighting from a bus and heading toward the school grounds. When the individual noticed the police presence, he attempted to flee the scene.

With concerns about his behavior and the possibility that he concealed something, officers pursued him to verify his identity. After the capture, they confirmed the person was a 19-year-old resident of Rojales.

The officers detected a strong cannabis odor on the suspect and proceeded to search his belongings. They recovered 31.5 grams of cannabis, 1.75 grams of cannabis, and 0.40 grams of cannabis oil, all wrapped in candy wrappers and organized into doses for sale. The individual was arrested on suspicion of crimes against public health.

Ripe Point

The Civil Guard considers the arrest to have disrupted a drug distribution point near an education center. The force continues to work with local schools as part of the Master Plan for Improving Coexistence and Safety in and Around Education Centers.

Through coordinated efforts with educational institutions, the Civil Guard reminds students of the risks associated with drug use and how it can devastate lives and impact those around them. The program emphasizes prevention, personal responsibility, and community safety, reinforcing the message that healthy choices lead to brighter futures.
