The Civil Guard arrested a man who had barricaded himself inside his home in Fuensalida, a town in Toledo, after a tense afternoon in which residents reported alarming threats with a firearm.
According to a Civil Guard statement issued this Tuesday, the incident began yesterday around 7 p.m. when officers received a report about a man on a street threatening bystanders in a highly aggressive manner.
The Toledo Command Citizen Security Unit responded to the scene and located the subject inside a residence. A negotiator accompanied the officers as they sought access. Entry proved difficult due to internal guard rails and other obstacles, yet the team persisted with professional coordination and persistence.
The individual displayed extreme aggression and directed a variety of bladed weapons toward the officers. One of the guards discharged his service weapon to prevent harm, injuring the suspect in a non-vital area. The man was then taken to Toledo Hospital by ambulance. Authorities indicated the operation concluded early this morning around 7:00.
The suspect faces multiple charges, including threats with a firearm, resistance, disobedience, assault on law enforcement personnel, and attempted murder. Authorities also reported the seized weapons included a knife, a crossbow with arrows, and compressed air devices.
