Chita Taxi Assault: Driver Hurt, Suspect Detained

In the city of Chita, a disturbing incident involved a taxi driver who was assaulted by a passenger, with the driver later found confined in the vehicle’s trunk for several hours. The report came from the regional division of the Investigative Committee of Russia, which monitors serious crimes across the region.

Investigators say the events unfolded on March 20 when a inebriated passenger became hostile following a dispute with the driver. The assailant delivered multiple blows to the driver’s head, then forced him into the trunk and continued to drive the car around for hours. After exhausting the driver, the attacker abandoned him by the roadside and vanished from the scene.

The injured driver was later spotted by a passerby who alerted authorities. The victim was transported to a hospital in a serious condition, where medical staff provided treatment for the injuries sustained during the confrontation.

The suspect was apprehended and is currently under detention as a preventive measure. Local investigators note that the individual has a prior history of offenses, which will be considered during formal proceedings.

In a separate but related report from the region, another crime involving a stolen vehicle appeared in the news cycle when a kebab delivery driver’s car was taken in a separate, earlier incident. This reminder underscores the ongoing challenges of vehicle-related crimes in the area.
