In Chelyabinsk, officials and family members connected to High School No. 142 shared details about a mass illness among students. Local media picked up the report from Emergency News Agency Chelyabinsk, which announced the incident publicly.

The event took place on February 17 this year, when roughly a hundred pupils experienced foodborne distress that required medical care. In the wake of the episode, an Investigation Commission launched a criminal inquiry and the health ministry began monitoring the school canteen operation.

One parent described how several children rushed to the restroom during class, suggesting sudden symptoms appeared in the early hours of the day.

“A number of students fled from classrooms and did not make it to the bathroom in time. Some were vomiting, and others showed signs of feeling unwell,” a concerned family member reported in interviews.

The principal noted that the health decline among the students started in the morning. Soon after, staff members started sending some children home, while others required ambulance transport to medical facilities.

Earlier, authorities had already noted that more than 50 individuals had fallen ill from ready-to-eat food kits in Rostov-on-Don, underscoring a broader pattern of similar cases across the region.
