Through the back door of the Ceballos Police Station, a man was freed from temporary confinement after spending about ten minutes in the morning. The individual, Roger L.S., a 20-year-old, stands accused of fatally wounding a trainer at a shooting club in Catalonia and then coercing two women to drive him away from the scene in Murcia.
His itinerary unfolded toward Murcia, landing at the City of Justice as the case developed. Given substantial evidence, including surveillance footage that captured the moment the assailant fired five shots at the victim from behind, the Murcia Guard Court is expected to order Roger to enter a makeshift detention facility. This decision may be reconsidered in favor of a community court in Catalonia, where the crime was committed.
The murder occurred in Canovelles, and the suspect was apprehended shortly after arriving in Murcia. He took control of two girls he had already targeted, abducting them at a gas station and forcing them to drive for nearly 600 kilometers. He was eventually stopped and arrested at the Carmen police station.
A National Police agent carries the prisoner to awaiting custody.
A unit from the Prevention and Response division of the UPR proceeded to the train station. Two officers patrolled the exterior while two others advanced toward the platforms, joining officers Héctor López and Jesus Sea as they entered the main hall, where roughly forty people were gathered at eight o’clock on Easter Sunday morning. López recounts that the moment they stepped in, Roger appeared to be seated among the travelers. Roger noticed the officers as well, and one of the officers later recalled that the suspect had demanded to know why he had not been killed and confessed that, if given the chance, he would have killed them all.
Alongside the trainer’s killing, the suspect now faces charges for kidnapping the two young women and forcing them to participate in the escape. The case continues to unfold under the scrutiny of the courts and law enforcement agencies involved in this high-profile incident. (Police report, regional security office)
