In Orihuela, a national police operation led to the arrest of four people from the same family on charges of distributing drugs in a local neighborhood. The suspects, comprised of male and female members aged between 19 and 52 and all identified as Spanish nationals, faced immediate detentions. The incident resulted in a court in Orihuela ordering imprisonment for one of the detainees, as reported through official channels.

“White matter”

The investigation, which began in January, was conducted by the Judicial Police Brigade attached to the Police Station of Orihuela. Local law enforcement had received information about several drug outlets operating from three addresses in the Capuchin district. Drug users reportedly visited these locations daily to purchase doses of cocaine and heroin. The operation involved a cooperation between the Judicial Police, the Citizen Security Dog Guides unit, the UPR Prevention and Response Unit, and the Provincial Police Station. These teams worked in concert to gather evidence and monitor activity around the identified sites.

Across the three targeted addresses, searches were carried out with judicial authorization. Inside Capuchins, authorities recovered significant cash and controlled substances. A canine unit with a trained drug-detection dog assisted in the seizure, revealing 13,000 euros in cash and 2,800 grams of a substance pre-marked for distribution. Subsequent testing indicated the presence of opiates, with laboratory analysis still pending final results. In addition to the drugs, authorities blocked a residence in Orihuela and seized six vehicles linked to the case.

In a separate line of action, assets tied to the case were restrained. Avalued at roughly 70,000 euros, the physical assets were seized, and a set of 14 bank accounts associated with the detainees was frozen to prevent possible dissipation of funds pending ongoing investigations. The collective effort underscores how multiple agencies can work together to dismantle drug networks that operate through local residences and mobile assets, aiming to prevent further harm in the community. The operation illustrates the practical impact of coordinated police tactics in the prevention of drug trafficking in the region, with ongoing analysis and updates from law enforcement expected as the case proceeds through the judicial system.
