Seeking to accelerate global entrepreneurship, Capital Energy launched Capital Energy Quantum with a capital envelope of 50 million euros, announced in late 2020. Quantum acts as the group’s investment vehicle, aimed at immersing itself in the fabric of national and international enterprise, with a particular focus on Europe, the United States, and Israel. Its mandate is to identify and back avant-garde initiatives that promise to shape all sectors of the future, especially where energy plays a central role.

Quantum pursues solutions in energy storage, the development of new mobility paradigms, efficient energy management, and the use of data to improve the operation and maintenance of renewable facilities. Capital Energy Quantum is dedicated to defining energy technology initiatives that can transform the energy sector and extend their reach to allied companies, helping create a portfolio of scalable, innovative firms with a global perspective.

Quantum’s mission centers on building teams and business models that promote solid, profitable companies and discover entrepreneurs capable of reshaping industry and society. Through these efforts, the venture aims to contribute to sustainable, global economic growth where innovation and technology drive progress.

To pursue this mission, Capital Energy Quantum has engaged in direct investment ventures, venture client collaborations, and open innovation challenges, including initiatives in Galicia and Castilla y Leon during the previous year. The program now seeks to go further, adopting a unique model in its field and aligning with identified needs among the companies it supports. It prioritizes those transitioning from physical premises to education services, mentoring, networking, job opportunities, and access to financing.

Entrepreneurs are invited to explore building new businesses around a promising idea, incubating or accelerating ventures, and crafting an international ecosystem that enables teams and operating models to offer tangible solutions to today’s societal challenges.

This collaborative investment approach embodies Capital Energy’s strategic commitment to entrepreneurship and to expanding a robust knowledge base on sustainability. It also reinforces the regional impact strategy embedded in the Regions Project, supporting local industry structure and talent development.

Strict commitment to energy and digital transformation

Capital Energy Quantum has backed both domestic and international companies expected to lead the energy sector’s transformation and the services it provides to other industries in the near term. Over its two and a half years of activity, several milestones have marked its progress:

  • 2021: Hesstec, a Valencia and Andalusia based firm, focused on hybrid storage solutions.
  • Air Conditioning Energy Conversion Fund, a pan-European fund steering the energy transition with support from partners such as Alantra and Enagás.
  • Solution, a Seville company producing a photovoltaic coating capable of yielding 100 percent renewable energy.
  • 2022: Stemy Energy, a Madrid platform that connects and engages consumers through artificial intelligence to participate in the electricity market, lowering bills and carbon footprints.
  • 2023: Veltium, a Basque company delivering equipment and software for charging electric vehicles.
  • Uncertain, an American platform hosting an infrastructure contract database and offering multiple service layers.

In addition, Capital Energy Quantum supported seven pilot projects spanning gamified sustainable behavior, energy usage optimization, smart charging, and cutting edge tech such as blockchain for renewable energy certification, virtual reality for wind farm maintenance, meteorological forecasting models for wind production, and impact analysis of wind turbine installations.

A 100% sustainable project

Capital Energy has built a solid track record over more than two decades, emerging as a leading renewable energy platform in the Iberian Peninsula. Its portfolio spans wind and solar projects, including offshore wind, with combined capacity approaching and exceeding 25 gigawatts, and offshore wind contributing around 7.5 GW. The company pursues an ecological and equitable energy transition through a sustainability-focused and digitization-driven business plan that aligns renewable deployment with government incentives, corporate partnerships, and regional development goals.

With sixteen offices across Spain and Portugal and a workforce of roughly 360 professionals, Capital Energy promotes self-consumption and storage technologies such as pumped hydro and battery storage to boost energy efficiency. The group is also advancing green hydrogen initiatives through Quantum Hydrogen and exploring renewable data center opportunities through Box2Bit, reinforcing a broad strategy to enhance regional resilience and economic vitality.
