A 20-year-old man, Roger L.S., is reported to have killed a trainer at a shooting club near Canovelles and has since been held in a Murcia prison under guard. The court in Murcia ordered his placement in a makeshift detention facility this Tuesday as authorities prepared formal proceedings. The suspect initially resisted entering the facility, and at one point forced two teenagers to drive him toward Murcia at gunpoint after admitting guilt and attempting to flee the city of justice.

People close to the case told LA OPINIÓN DE MURCIA, part of the Prensa Ibérica group, that the former serviceman attempted to escape custody when he was required to appear in court, choosing not to testify.

After 3:00 p.m., routine cell checks allowed detainees to use the bathroom. It was during this moment that the alleged assailant allegedly bolted past the security gate and entered the corridors of the Sentry Court offices.

Agents pursued him as he ran and eventually intercepted him on the stairs. A struggle followed. He fell, suffering a nose bleed, and received treatment from the Primary Care Emergency Service (SUAP).

The escape attempt was thwarted: he was restrained and returned to his cell with the minimum force necessary.

Subsequently, the Civil Guard transferred him to Murcia II prison, moving from the Ceballos Police Station to the City of Justice, and then to Campos del Río. This sequence marked the day’s movements for the suspect.

Evidence and the hostage escape

The head of the duty court, noting the substantial amount of evidence, ordered temporary detention. Video recordings allegedly show the moments when the suspect fired at the victim in the back multiple times and then attempted to change his weapon with the club employee, before turning the gun on other members. The case is slated to proceed before the 2nd Review Court of Granollers (Catalonia).

The murder occurred in Canovelles, resulting in the death of Roger L.S. He was detained at the El Carmen police station after allegedly taking two teenage girls hostage during a lengthy journey of about 600 kilometers. The girls were abducted at a Barcelona petrol station, and local police stopped the vehicle during a routine check; the two teens were not forthcoming with details at the moment, and the suspect released them shortly after.

During the voyage, the suspect allegedly threatened the two girls and used two pistols he had stolen from the Granollers Precision Shooting Club, along with a knife. A Prevention and Response Unit (UPR) consisting of six members identified him as he sat among the passengers at the station on Easter Sunday, about twelve hours after the escape.
