Security Operation in Calpe Yields Arrests and Seizures

In a coordinated effort by local Civil Guard units, a repeat offender linked to a series of break-ins in garages and storage spaces faced multiple charges. The individual is accused of eight thefts, one count of fraud connected to the use of a stolen bank card, and a second fraud allegation tied to another man aged 47 who is under investigation. During the operation, authorities recovered several items, including tools and five bicycles, with most of the belongings eventually being returned to their rightful owners.

Investigations in Calpe began last August after a noticeable rise in thefts targeting garages and warehouse spaces within the municipality. The Civil Guard focused on communities in the area where incidents were most frequent, assembling a comprehensive picture of the criminal activity through interviews with witnesses and neighbors, as well as an in-depth review of hours of security camera footage captured near the robbery sites.

The surveillance work led investigators to a 42-year-old Polish man who had a history of property crimes and held an existing arrest warrant issued by a court in Denia. The authorities proceeded with judicial requests to advance the case, and the operation intensified as more evidence came to light.

The investigation revealed that the suspect had already sold several stolen items to third parties and to local businesses. After establishing his involvement in eight thefts, a broader search and arrest operation was launched and carried out on October 17. The suspect was stopped in Calpe on a stolen bicycle while carrying a backpack that contained a set of tools used in the break-ins.

The individual was taken to Denia for judicial processing, where precautionary measures were ordered. Alongside this development, a second person was identified as a subject of fraud allegations and remains under investigation.

During the operation, authorities retrieved various tools and five bicycles. The Civil Guard urges residents to inspect their belongings carefully and mark them with identifying information. Proper marking helps researchers match recovered items with their rightful owners, expediting the return of possessions that may have been taken in thefts.

As the case moves forward, law enforcement emphasizes the importance of community vigilance. Local residents are encouraged to report suspicious activity promptly and to cooperate with investigators to ensure a swift resolution and the safe return of stolen property.
