Emergency crews in Cadiz responded to a request from the fire department when authorities from the local police arrived at a residence in the city. The case concerns an 80 year old woman who had received an alert from a family member and showed no symptoms of distress ten days before her discovery.

City officials clarified in a statement that the operation started on Thursday afternoon following a request for support from the Andalusian Emergency Service, 112, to gain entry for the Firefighters Consortium. The incident occurred at a home on Pérgolas street in Cadiz, the capital of the province.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers located the woman’s lifeless body in the bathroom. Authorities indicated that the death appeared to be due to natural causes, a preliminary assessment that would guide any ongoing investigations and conclusions.

Aiding the response, as described by the Local Police, a relative of the deceased reported that there had been no contact for ten days. This gap in communication prompted the welfare check that ultimately led to the discovery.
