A fatality and multiple injuries were reported after a truck overturned onto a bus carrying a group of agricultural workers on Monday morning. The incident occurred on the route from Lorca to Pulpí in the Murcia region, according to the Murcia Region Emergency Coordination Center 112.

The collision between the two vehicles happened around 12:30 in the afternoon. A truck loaded with plastic collided with the bus, causing the bus to overturn and trap some passengers inside.

Fire teams from the Murcia Region Fire Fighting and Rescue Consortium (CEIS), six emergency management ambulances, the Health Emergencies 061 service, Civil Safety, and Civil Protection units based in Lorca, along with an Occupational Health and Safety inspector, were dispatched to the scene.

Civil Guard sources confirmed that the plastic truck and the bus heading toward Lorca were involved in an incident that disrupted traffic in the area. Emergency services advised motorists to use alternative routes to ease access for responders.

Firefighters and medical personnel worked to stabilize and release the injured, with plans to transfer them to hospital facilities once stabilized.

According to 112, one person, a woman, died at the scene when the truck struck the location beside her. The bus driver managed to escape on his own.

A total of 13 people were treated at the site or transported to hospital: twelve were taken to Rafael Méndez Hospital in Lorca, and one to Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital in Murcia.

The exact number of workers who were traveling on the bus at the time remains unconfirmed as authorities continue to assess the scene and determine how many individuals were onboard.
