A serious accident unfolded at a construction site in the town of Vilamaniscle, Girona, when a section of the first floor roof of one apartment under construction gave way. The incident occurred in the early afternoon as workers were carrying out roofing and structural tasks on Suro Gros street. The collapse trapped several laborers beneath the rubble, triggering an immediate emergency response from local authorities.
Authorities describe the episode as a collapse of the roof on the first level of a partially completed dwelling. In the wake of the incident, three workers were buried under the fallen debris, and rescue teams worked swiftly to reach them and assess their injuries. The situation demanded a coordinated effort from multiple agencies to secure the scene and provide medical care as needed.
One worker, aged 29, did not survive the collapse. The second worker sustained serious injuries, including fractures, and was transported to the Figueres Hospital for urgent treatment. Upon arrival, Mossos d’Esquadra patrols organized the initial perimeter, and six teams from the Figueres police station joined the response.
