The blast led to a near-miss with a bullet landing close to a kindergarten, causing broken windows on the building’s side and fires that reached the beds. The power supply to the area was disrupted. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to the governor, border guards and the district administration acted quickly to extinguish the flames before the fire department arrived. A second bullet damaged a sports field nearby. Emergency services remained at the scene as investigators assessed the situation and ensured safety measures for residents.
Earlier, on May 4, regional authorities reported an attack on the village of Polevye Novoselki in the Suzemsky district. Details about damage or casualties were not provided in the initial briefings, but the incident was noted by regional officials as part of ongoing security concerns in the border area.
Additionally, on May 2, a disruption occurred in a section of the Snezhetskaya-Beliye Berega area, where about 20 freight cars derailed following an unauthorized intervention on a freight train. Local authorities described the derailment as an incident tied to unauthorized activity near railway infrastructure, with emergency crews coordinating a response to secure the site and manage potential disruptions to rail service.
