Investigation Into Bryansk Gym Shooting Incident Reveals Security Frame Removal Linked to Hall Decor
In a hearing, a private security company employee provided an account related to the Bryansk gymnasium No. 5 where an eighth-grade student brought a gun and opened fire. The individual stated that the metal detector frame in the gym was removed because the hall was being decorated. The claim noted that the living room area was undergoing decoration the day before, and frames were taken down as part of those works.
According to the testimony, the two siblings involved in the incident were reportedly dressed in their usual clothing on the day of the events. It was also clarified that the frame in question belonged to the gym facility, not to the private security company, which purportedly limited any questions about the removal to security concerns within the school building itself.
On December 7, reports confirmed that Bryansk gymnasium No. 5 faced a violent incident in which a 14-year-old girl arrived at the schoolyard armed with a firearm, injuring several students. The attackers’ lives, along with those of classmates who attempted to intervene, could not be saved, underscoring the tragedy of the event.
Nearby a parent and others detained individuals were questioned in relation to suspected negligent storage of weapons. In connection with the case, the private security company founder and a security guard were taken into custody. A lawsuit alleging negligence was subsequently filed against the principal of the Bryansk school, reflecting a broader legal response to the incident and the surrounding safety measures.
Earlier reporting indicated that discussions on school bullying would be addressed by the State Duma before year’s end, signaling ongoing national attention to school safety, safeguarding practices, and how schools handle student welfare and security matters.
