Rail freight traffic in Crimea’s Cankoy region halted after a bridge linking the peninsula with the Zaporozhye region collapsed. TASS reported the incident, noting that rail operators immediately suspended movements to protect people and cargo while emergency teams secured the scene and began assessments. The outage disrupted the flow of goods through the important rail corridor, prompting authorities to prepare contingency plans and to monitor the situation closely as engineers inspected the structure for signs of further risk.

Officials from the Zaporozhye region’s Ministry of Transport and Transport Infrastructure told the agency that normal traffic should resume within around 24 hours and that long-term stoppages were not anticipated. The statement described rapid actions including safety checks, on-site coordination with rail operators, and ongoing liaison with emergency services to manage the response. The message gave assurance that once the immediate danger subsides, routine operations could return, with priority given to essential freight and the protection of supply chains.

On November 13, reports described a collapse on the Dzhankoy–Maslovo highway section in Crimea where a railway bridge gave way. A truck and a passenger car were on the bridge at the moment of failure, and rescue teams quickly reached the scene. They managed to pull two people from the vehicle and provided initial medical aid before transferring them to facilities for further treatment.

One victim was admitted to hospital, according to the Crimean Ministry of Health, with a serious condition. The patient had previously received outpatient care and chose not to be hospitalized at that time. Medical crews continued to stabilize the person and monitor recovery, while officials tracked the evolving health situation and provided updates as needed.

Regional Investigative Committee investigators noted the emergency followed the movement of an overloaded truck over the bridge. The probe continues to assess whether the structure remained dangerous and what factors contributed to the collapse. Officials indicated that investigators would review load limits, maintenance history, and eyewitness accounts to determine the sequence of events and any possible responsibility.

The Crimea prosecutor’s office has been actively involved in supervising the bridge-collapse investigation, coordinating with investigators to ensure proper procedures and accountability. Authorities have emphasized that the goal is to map out the causes, secure the scene, and implement safety measures to prevent a recurrence while supporting affected communities and industries.
