Under pressure from the prosecutor’s office, the fast food operation paused its activities while authorities investigated breaches of sanitary and epidemiological rules that led to a mass illness among Bratsk residents. This pause is the focus of the official statements.

The Bratsk City Court reviewed the prosecutor’s request to suspend the public catering establishment until all sanitary and epidemiological violations were addressed, keeping the site closed during the review.

Earlier reports confirmed that the mass illness prompted the Bratsk prosecutor’s office, in cooperation with Rospotrebnadzor, to conduct an audit of the establishment’s compliance with sanitary and epidemiological legislation on Kirov Street in Bratsk.

Concerning the violations that could threaten broad outbreaks among residents, the prosecutor’s office stated that protective measures would be applied and that the case would proceed with a suspension of the organization’s operations until such violations are remedied. The prohibition remained in place pending a final prosecutorial decision.

The Bratsk City Court fully aligned with the prosecutor’s position, ordering the suspension of the establishment’s activities until all sanitary and epidemiological breaches were corrected.

Additionally, deputies from United Russia urged the Prosecutor General’s Office to carry out a large-scale inspection of fast food outlets and mobile food stalls across Russian regions.

In a bulletin from the Rosselkhoznadzor regional service for Irkutsk, it was noted that more than one hundred people fell ill after consuming a shawarma from a sister cafe, with salmonella contamination traced to expired Krasnoyarsk chicken nuggets.

Earlier, a Moscow student reportedly consumed antidepressants with an energy drink and arrived at the hospital on exam day, illustrating ongoing safety concerns about consumer health and the need for vigilant oversight of food and beverage products.
