Borja Prado has formally stepped down from his roles as president and board member of Mediaset España. The executive delivered his resignation in the course of the company’s board meeting this morning, with the change becoming effective at the end of the year on December 31.
Prado’s association with Mediaset España began in 2004, a period that marked a pivotal phase for the company as it transitioned from being listed in the independent segment to a position within the proprietary category. This long tenure saw the business grow from a listed entity into a fully integrated media group with a broader strategic footprint.
On April 20, 2022, Prado assumed the presidency of Mediaset España, taking over from Alejandro Echevarría. During his leadership, he steered the company through key corporate events, including a major takeover process, the spin-off initiative, and the subsequent merger with the parent entity MFE-MEDIAFOREUROPE. In the aftermath of these moves, Prado continued to guide the enterprise as head of the broader audiovisual group, sustaining its direction through a period of significant transformation and realignment across the sector.
Conveying his perspective, Prado described his career at Mediaset as the culmination of a long period of service to the group, emphasizing his ongoing readiness to assist, defend, and cooperate with the company since his first appointment as a director over two decades ago. His commentary reflects a commitment that spanned more than twenty years, underscoring a deep-rooted involvement in shaping the group’s strategic course and governance framework.
The Board of Directors expressed gratitude for Prado’s extensive time, dedication, and support, highlighting the notable contributions he has offered to the company over the years. The acknowledgment from the board reflects a recognition of the leadership and stability Prado delivered through a period of notable industry change and corporate evolution.
