Faculty communication and international relations at Blanquerna faced a serious incident as a private Ramon Llull University professor was dismissed after being accused of sexual harassment by a small group of students. The initial complaint emerged in September, and in line with the university protocol, the professor was suspended from duties and salary for three months. He left the role again after filing a new complaint last week, and two additional reports have been added in the days that followed. The case now includes four separate allegations of sexual harassment against the professor.

Following the second accusation, the faculty launched an internal investigation. After reviewing three new complaints concerning the individual identified as XS, the commission described the facts as very serious. In a statement issued by the faculty director general, Giorgia Miotto, the active community was informed that the professor had been dismissed in accordance with the institution’s Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Complaints

University students gathered outside the Faculty of Communication this Tuesday, shouting that a teacher who is being taken advantage of is not their authority. They called for greater transparency and direct action from the university and pressed for the professor’s dismissal. Dean Josep Lluís Micó remarked to reporters that XS did not have a real life in college.

Several Prensa Ibérica reporters spoke with EL PERIÓDICO DE CATALUNYA about the growing awareness of the situation. They noted that more students might come forward, though the process remains unsettled. Some students with dual degrees shared with the newspaper that a group of young women was encouraged to report their experiences together, but ultimately only one did.

Faculty Commitment

The university reiterated its commitment to address the issue of harassment in all its centers by outlining the steps taken to protect the confidentiality of those involved while pursuing accountability. The statement underscored the seriousness with which the institution treats any form of harassment and outlined how data and personal details will be protected during investigations.

In addition, the faculty announced plans to establish a physical information hub named Punt Lilac and a digital counterpart, Punt Lila. The aim is to inform the community, raise awareness about harassment and cyberbullying, and publicly share the preventive measures being implemented to reduce risk and support potential victims.
