An incident in Alicante led to the arrest of a burglary suspect after three individuals forced open the front door of a residence while the owners were away on vacation. One of the detainees happened to be a neighbor of the homeowner. Authorities confirmed the break-in occurred during a scheduled absence, with the family not present at the property.
The arrest occurred on the afternoon of November 12 when officers from the Citizen Assistance Group were alerted by the Alicante Provincial Police Station to respond to a residence in the city. The trio, all dressed in hooded clothing, breached the main door by forcing the lock open and entering the home.
When police arrived, they spoke with witnesses who corroborated the account: the door had been forcibly opened and was partially detached from its frame. The noise of items moved inside drew nearby attention, and officers found a 31-year-old man of Hispanic origin attempting to flee as he realized police presence. He was taken into custody, followed by the arrest of two more suspects, a 36-year-old man and a 39-year-old woman, who were found inside the residence. The three provided inconsistent statements, claiming they were simply at home, which led to charges of burglary being filed against them.

Following the detentions, investigators learned that the detained woman lived in the same building but on a different floor. She admitted knowing the property would be vacant during the family’s vacation and described the plan to break in. Police records indicate the other two suspects were also involved in the burglary.
Inside the home, signs of disarray were evident to officers at the scene. Tools used to bypass the lock were recovered, along with cash found in the house. A homemade metal tool, crafted to extract the cylinder lock, stood out among the evidence. A van parked along the street, belonging to the three detainees, contained additional tools and equipment scattered in the rear area, ready for use when the crime began.
The suspects were placed in the custody of the Alicante guard court for further proceedings. The incident underscores the risks residents face during vacation periods and highlights the importance of a rapid police response in preventing greater losses.
