Police forces in Benidorm have detained a man who attempted to steal from a well-known hospitality business in the town. The rapid arrival of officers at the scene and the security perimeter established from the outset prevented the suspect from taking any items.
The incident occurred in the early hours when the local alarm center notified the National Police after intruders had gained access and cameras showed a man inside. The CIMACC operations center activated the specific protocol for this type of crime and dispatched several patrols to the location.
Officers quickly surrounded the site, tightening the perimeter as they proceeded. A second patrol arrived at the facilities and observed that entry had been achieved by breaking a rear window using a medium-sized ice gas cylinder. Initially, the interior was obscured by a non-lethal smoke cloud released to hamper visibility for anyone inside.
All exit points were monitored as investigators coordinated with a private security company. The area where the alarm had triggered was mapped, the entry method was documented, and footage of the suspect inside the building was secured. In the images, the individual is seen attempting to conceal his face with a hood.
The arrest occurred within minutes. As the perimeter narrowed, potential escape routes were eliminated. The suspect was eventually located in a nearby alley used for loading and unloading, where an unsecured electrical meter room provided an easy hiding place. The swift intervention of the National Police and the precise work of the patrols thwarted the robbery, leaving the perpetrator with no time to flee with stolen goods.
The detainee had a history of prior offenses and was wanted under several active warrants for location and detention by different courts. The offender, a 59-year-old Spanish man, carried a substantial record of similar incidents and was subsequently presented to the Guardia de Instrucción in Benidorm.
