Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, confirmed the incident via his Telegram channel, reporting casualties and ongoing investigations. In his update, the governor indicated that two children died and others were injured as a result of the attack. He noted that Ukrainian forces penetrated into the residential areas, promising to release more details as they become available.
On December 30, Gladkov stated that the Belgorod region had endured more than 90 bombardments by the Ukrainian army within a 24-hour period. He emphasized the intensity of the shelling and the need for vigilance across the region.
That same day, the governor also reported substantial air pressure as Ukrainian forces neared Belgorod and the surrounding district, and he highlighted the role of air defense systems in countering the threats. The description pointed to multiple aerial targets being neutralized near the city.
Earlier, on December 28, reports indicated that a kamikaze drone tied to Ukrainian forces attacked the village of Mokraya Orlovka in the Grayvoronsky district of Belgorod region, adding to the sequence of disruptive incidents in the area.
There were also statements from the Ministry of Emergencies about a fire breaking out at a paint and varnish materials factory in Belgorod, adding to the array of emergencies in the area.
Prior to these events, shots were reported near a village and a livestock farm within the Belgorod region, contributing to the ongoing tension and security concerns across border communities.
