The Belgorod region’s governor, Vyacheslav Gladkov, announced that air defense measures were active in the Korochansky district as part of the region’s ongoing security operations. The information was disclosed through an official outreach published in the governor’s own newspaper and shared via the telegraph channel of the administration.
According to Gladkov, the roof of a private residence in the village of Melikhovo sustained damage from bullet fragments. He noted that authorities were conducting a continuous, door-to-door sweep of the area to assess safety and provide assistance where needed.
The governor also reported that a direct bullet strike in the village of Murom, located in the Shebekinsky district, caused a fire at a private residential building. Emergency crews responded promptly to the scene to contain the blaze and evaluate structural safety in the surrounding area.
As of June 2, Gladkov indicated that the toll in the Shebekino bombardment had risen to 16 lives lost. He added that three administrative buildings, a hostel, and ten commercial facilities sustained damage, underscoring the broad impact on local infrastructure and livelihoods.
During an appearance by a former governor of the Belgorod region, journalists conveyed that on June 1 the Shebekinsky urban district endured a heavy barrage, with more than 850 shells fired—a figure described as the highest since the onset of the current shelling campaign in the area. This stark development was highlighted as part of ongoing assessments of security risks, civilian safety, and regional resilience in the face of sustained hostilities.
