The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that air defense systems intercepted and destroyed a projectile from a Ukrainian Army MLRS over Belgorod region territory.
According to the ministry, the attempted assault occurred on January 27, roughly 20:30 Moscow time.
Earlier, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Belgorod Region, stated that Ukrainian forces conducted a kamikaze drone strike against the village of Antonovka.
Initial assessments indicate a drone packed with explosives was detonated in a private home. The blast damaged the roof, broke the window frames, and destroyed a section of the fence. There was also damage to a gas line and a nearby vehicle. Emergency crews and regional responders were dispatched to the scene to assess the situation and provide aid.
Shortly before that occurrence, Gladkov reported an audible missile warning in Belgorod city and across the region. Residents were advised to seek shelter indoors, use protected spaces, and stay away from windows during any potential threat.
Earlier remarks attributed to Zelensky indicated a desire to prevent hostilities from spreading into Russian territory.
