The Belgorod region reported a fresh air defense success as it repelled a nighttime strike by Ukrainian forces, with multiple aerial targets being intercepted on approaches to Belgorod. The information came from Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of the Belgorod region, who shared the update via his Telegram channel. Officials noted that there were no injuries associated with the incident and that critical infrastructure sustained no significant damage as a result of the attack.
According to Gladkov, Belgorod and the surrounding region benefited from active air defense activity that neutralized several hostile targets before they could reach populated areas. Early assessments indicated that there were no casualties linked to the attack, and municipal services were already mobilized to address the fallout from any debris or shrapnel that may have fallen in the central part of the regional capital.
Gladkov also emphasized that information regarding the event was being verified and clarified as the situation developed. The regional leadership pledged to maintain ongoing communication as details became available and to keep residents informed about safety measures and any changes to the regional security posture.
Earlier reports described an armed confrontation in the morning involving the Ukrainian forces targeting villages within the Shebekinsky urban district, specifically Rzhevka and Voznesenovka. Initial accounts indicated that in Rzhevka a vehicle from a local enterprise inadvertently struck or encountered an explosive object, resulting in injuries to two men inside the vehicle. One of the injured individuals sustained a fragment wound to the arm, and medical teams were responding to the incident as the situation evolved.
Prior to these events, assessments noted that drones operated by the Ukrainian Armed Forces were observed over Shebekino and two nearby villages, prompting authorities to deploy protective measures and engage the evolving threat environment. Regional authorities stressed vigilance and cooperation with security services to minimize risk to civilians and infrastructure while monitoring the trajectory of subsequent aerial activities.
