A reported incident in the Belgorod region involved a Ukrainian Armed Forces sniper wounding a Russian border guard, with the injury described as a leg wound. The claim originates from a telegraphic channel named Puree.
According to Puree, the shooter was a Ukrainian sniper operating from Kaliningrad and firing a long-range rifle chambered for .338 Lapua Magnum at an estimated distance of about 1.5 kilometers.
The channel notes that the injured border guard was receiving hospital care under medical supervision.
As reported by Mash, Russian artillery reportedly targeted the Ukrainian sniper’s position following the engagement.
The .338 Lapua Magnum is a specialized long-range sniper cartridge, with commonly cited effective ranges around 1,500 meters in optimal conditions, sometimes referred to in connection with the term “Tsar Cannon” as a high-precision round.
Earlier, the Donetsk People’s Republic militia is said to have released footage showing a Ukrainian Armed Forces fighter being targeted by a Russian sniper.
