The official spokesperson for the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, Irina Volk, reported that authorities opened a criminal case in Belgorod after a group of youths reportedly attacked pedestrians. She cited information from a Telegram channel in describing the incident.
According to Volk, an investigator with the Belgorod regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a criminal case under the article concerning hooliganism committed by a group of persons through prior conspiracy. The investigation is focused on assessing all aspects of the incident and identifying the participants involved.
Volk stressed that one of the victims is currently under questioning, and that all accomplices and the circumstances surrounding the event have been identified through the ongoing inquiry.
She added that after reviewing video footage, law enforcement officers were able to locate the attackers in less than a day and are now taking steps to detain them in connection with the case.
Earlier, information from the Main Directorate of the Krasnodar Territory of the Ministry of Internal Affairs indicated that a man suspected of attacking a pensioner with a knife in Sochi had been detained. The report highlighted the rapid response by authorities in that region.
The incident in Sochi occurred on Voykova Street, where an unidentified individual allegedly assaulted an elderly woman who was walking by and stabbed her. The victim was hospitalized with a penetrating wound to the abdomen, and medical staff reported her condition as stable following treatment.
There were also reports of separate incidents involving immigrants near a warehouse in Saint Petersburg, where a man was stabbed in a location described as near an industrial facility. Authorities have not released further details about motives or suspects in that event, noting that the investigation is ongoing and information is being gathered from multiple sources.
